I belong to a number of different groups on LinkedIn, many of which are podcast related (and if you don’t know what I’m talking about, then it’s high-time you get your fanny over to LinkedIn and check it out).
One of the many on-going discussions/questions is regarding statistics.
- How many people are listening/downloading my shows?
- How are they listening to the shows?
- Are they finding me on iTunes?
- And my favorite – how many subscribers does my show have?
Now, if you’ve come to this post looking for the secret recipe to analyzing your podcast statistics, sorry… but you’re going to be disappointed.
Instead, let me ask you a question:
What’s more important to you –
Having 2,000 “subscribers” to your podcast who are unengaged and maybe not even listening… but you’ve got a nice number to show off…
…or having 200 highly engaged fans that listen religiously to your shows, comment on your work and buy your products and/or services?
